Hailing from Rockford Illinois the home of Cheap Trick, these bad boys of Rock tore it up in the late 80’s and early 90’s with songs like This Is Your Brain On Rock-N-Roll and the amped up version of Elvis Presley’s Suspicious Minds. The band released their self titled full length album in 1992 that included the love ballad “Nicole” and ten other fan favorites. The album sold over 15,000 copies. 
Ript is now available worldwide as a special digital release through SONY MUSIC via Dark Star Records. This is great news for Hard Rock and 80’s Metal Fans from around the world. “Ript” is available now at digital retailers everywhere including iTunes.
Dark Star Records Recording Artist Slam Bang ripped it up at this years Thirsty Whale Reunion Party. The event was held on October 22nd and 23rd 2010. The band performed favorites like “Somebody New” as well as the theme song to the movie Jezebeth “She’s Calling Out Your Name” with special guest “Bob Slawek” on vocals. The reunion bash received a ton of press and caught the attention of former Chicago Sun Times Columnist Jim DeRogatis. Here is an excerpt from his blog: Last year, Tony “Shark” Labarbera, a fixture at the late, lamented heavy-metal roadhouse the Thirsty Whale, held a reunion for fans, friends, and former fixtures of the place to celebrate its hard-rocking legacy. It was a hit, and there’ll be an encore party this year starting at 6 this evening and 5:30 p.m. tomorrow at Shark City, 2240 Bloomingdale Road in Glendale Heights, with two stages each night and an endless roster of bands including Enuff Z’nuff, 7th Heaven, Slam Bang, Cutlass, and Paradoxx. ~ Jim DeRogatis / Chicago Music Critic
